Investor ranking: These 17 VCs were particularly active in Germany in 2025

Startupdetector identified the most active VCs in Germany in the second quarter – with exciting results.
Which VCs were most active in the German startup scene in the second quarter of 2025? The data service startupdetector evaluated all publicly known financing rounds – not just considering early-stage or growth investments, but including all phases.
High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) leads the field with 16 investments, followed by HV Capital with 12 deals. Also in double digits are Bayern Kapital (11 investments) and Project A (10 investments).
Strikingly, there are hardly any Anglo-Saxon investors among the most active investors. The only international VC among the top players is EQT from Sweden – with no fewer than four investments in German startups.
Important: Startupdetector's analysis only measures the number of investments. Neither the invested capital nor the quality of the investments are taken into account in the ranking – both of which are essential metrics for assessing long-term success.
