Aminata Touré, the Deputy Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, has posted the first photo of her newborn baby.

Yesterday, Schleswig-Holstein's Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed to NDR that Social Affairs Minister Aminata Touré of the Green Party became a mother at the end of April. Now, the 32-year-old has shared a photo of her newborn child on Instagram for the first time. "How lucky I am to be your mom," she captioned a photo of herself in the hospital, smiling happily at the camera with her child in her arms.

Numerous politicians congratulate

Touré has been Minister for Social Affairs, Youth, Family, Senior Citizens, Integration, and Equality in Schleswig-Holstein since 2022, and Deputy Minister-President of Germany's northernmost state since August of last year. The new mother immediately received a flood of congratulations from politicians for her post. Former Green Party leader Ricarda Lang (31) commented on the photo with the words: "So so so beautiful," while Green Party member of the Bundestag Ulle Schauws (59) wrote: "Congratulations from the bottom of my heart and welcome to the new child of the earth."

Touré announced her pregnancy in November 2024. "I know there's a lot going on in the world right now - including in my own personal life, because I'm pregnant," she wrote at the time alongside a photo of her growing baby bump .

At the beginning of March, Touré went on maternity leave "on medical advice," as the Ministry of Social Affairs announced at the time . The handover of her ministerial duties to two state secretaries had been "intensively prepared," as she herself explained. "I know the ministry and its issues are in the best of hands. The compatibility of family and career must be achievable for women in all professional groups, including in top positions. I hope to be able to contribute to this through my political work and personally," Touré said at the time.
