66-year-old Korean grandmother: 5 free tips in her skincare routine

When it comes to skincare, we trust Korean women blindly. When 66-year-old Ms. Ahn shares her daily routine, we're amazed by five surprising tips that don't cost a cent.
Sarah Ahn's mother has never had minimally invasive treatments like Botox or hyaluronic fillers, and she's also steered clear of other skin-rejuvenating treatments—and yet, at 66 years old, her skin is bursting with firmness and radiance! Her secret lies not only in her products, but especially in her skincare routine. These 5 simple tips truly surprised us. The best part? They're free ! We don't have to buy new skincare products to achieve this.
66-year-old Korean grandmother reveals free tips to improve her skincare routineWhen you have a social media star as a daughter, you have to expect to be asked to be on camera yourself at some point. It seems the mother of food influencer Sarah Ahn is quite happy to do so. In two videos, the Korean reveals her realistic morning and evening routine. Before that, however, she explains her philosophy on skin:
1. Nutrition is more important to her than expensive skin careA healthy gut and adequate nutrient needs are the prerequisites for beautiful skin that ages slowly. Therefore, the 66-year-old drinks freshly squeezed lemon juice with olive oil every morning, incorporates fermented foods like kimchi into her daily meals, and relies on plenty of antioxidants (e.g., in the form of berries) and fiber.

During sleep, important regeneration processes take place in our skin. Too little sleep increases stress levels , which increases the amount of free radicals that cause damage in our bodies. Free radicals are unstable molecules that rob healthy cells in search of their missing electron. Because they are particularly reactive, they steal the electron from surrounding molecules without regard for the loss. The result? The basic building blocks of firm and elastic skin (the structural proteins collagen and elastin) are destroyed.

You don't hear this tip all that often, but the 66-year-old swears by it! In the morning, she makes herself a warm compress . She takes a small towel, wets it, wrings it out, and puts it in the microwave for two minutes. It shouldn't be too hot, especially for beginners. Then she gently presses it onto her skin, which relaxes the facial muscles and stimulates circulation . She uses the same towel again before going to bed: again, water comes into play and a 15-minute stay in the freezer. This reduces swelling and makes the skin feel firmer.

@ahnestkitchen A very realistic skincare routine from my mom who is 66 years old. She's aged gracefully especially this past decade. She says it's not necessarily about the products but the foundation you set up beforehand: diet, sleep, and warm/cold compress. That's where the consistency is required for these products to work long-term. She's used these methods for over 30 years. all products linked in bio. 🔗 Night routine video is next! Drau Ahn treats her skin very gently. When she places compresses on her face, for example, she applies only gentle pressure . When drying her skin after cleansing, she also pats and never rubs. She also proceeds cautiously when applying her skincare, always stroking upwards and gently pressing serums, creams, and other products into her skin. Why all this? Friction irritates the skin and can damage the collagen structure over time.
5. Where's the skincare? Well, it's in the fridge! The Korean beauty stores all her skincare products in the refrigerator . This naturally creates a cooling, relaxing effect when applied, but this storage has other benefits as well. On the one hand, it protects the skincare from light – this is especially important for light-sensitive active ingredients like vitamin C or retinol , as they otherwise become ineffective. On the other hand, cold slows the spread of bacteria , which can occur, for example, when the cream comes into contact with skin. The result of cool storage is longer-lasting and more effective skincare – we love it!
