"Even adult daughters often cannot distinguish between their own feelings and those of their mother."

Ms. Trentzsch, your book is called What We Daughters Need Our Mothers For , subtitle: Portrait of a Relationship . How did you come up with this topic? Women's issues occupied me as a teenager, but also later as a feminist. The questions of how women stand in the world, which conditions lead to them repeatedly coming up against limits, external limits but also their own, occupied me then as they do now. The big questions: the patriarchy, gender relations, what is denied to women? However, I think it is just as important to look inwards: how do women hinder one another? People don't look at that very often.
