According to a literature review, hysterectomy appears to be associated with a significantly increased risk of all types of urinary incontinence (stress, urge, and mixed incontinence). Starting ten years after the procedure, the risk of vaginal prolapse also appears to increase. The authors consider a causal relationship at least plausible.
