From 16 to 18 September 2025, the pharmacy and healthcare industry will meet for Expopharm in Düsseldorf. Under the motto »For the future of our Pharmacies , the leading European trade fair, is the central industry meeting place for pharmacy teams, decision-makers from the pharmacy industry, and experts from academia and practice. In addition to a high-caliber continuing education program, the event offers a wide range of opportunities for networking and discovering innovations from around 500 exhibitors and brands.
Expopharm's stage program includes over 200 presentations from 200 speakers on three stages. Since 2013, the centerpiece has been Pharma-World powered by Pharmazeutische Zeitung. Here, current topics related to the pharmaceutical consulting expertise of pharmacy teams are examined from various perspectives. The scientific lecture program was compiled by Professor Dr. Theodor Dingermann (Senior Editor of Pharmazeutische Zeitung) and Professor Dr. Manfred Schubert-Zsilavecz (Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry) and is accredited by the North Rhine Chamber of Pharmacists with a total of 36 continuing education credits. Participants can not only expand their knowledge but also earn up to nine continuing education credits per day.
On the first day of the trade fair, Pharma World will feature several presentations on the topic of medicinal cannabis. These will cover current legal changes, new standardized dosage forms, and practical aspects of testing and dispensing. In the "PZ Nachgefragt" format, attorney Dr. Jan Rasmus Ludwig, pharmacist Dr. Christiane Neubaur, and Professor Dr. Manfred Schubert-Zsilavecz will discuss the development of the market since April 2024. A second focus on Tuesday will be pharmaceutical services, for example in the field of oncology. Pharmacist Silvia Wicha will explain how pharmaceutical care for oral anti-tumor therapy for cancer patients can be implemented in a practical manner.
On Wednesday, 17 September 2025, the Pharma-World programme will focus on the topic Vaccination in the pharmacy. Experts demonstrate how pharmacies can contribute to prevention, the potential of inactivated vaccines, and how low-threshold vaccination programs are implemented in practice. Another focus will be on innovative medicines and pharmaceutical developments. In keeping with this, Professor Dr. Theo Dingermann will report on the current status of therapeutic vaccination against cancer.
The Thursday of the trade fair will focus on self-medication and women's health. The presentations will provide practical advice on topics such as heartburn, strengthening the microbiome, or support for obesity. In addition, the presentation "Intercultural Competence in the Pharmacy" by intercultural trainer Serena Cerra will demonstrate how pharmacy teams can best advise culturally diverse patients and build trust. Women's health will be explored, including how pharmacies can provide support for menopausal symptoms or endometriosis. In a "PZ Nachgefragt" presentation, pharmacy manager Tilly Duderstadt, pharmacy owner Stefan Göbel, menopause coach Heidi Gregor (Mag. pharm.), and Anja Klauke from the German Pharmaceutical Industry Association (BfA) will discuss the contribution pharmacies can make to improving women's health.
Workshops for each pharmacy team member and guided tours round out the program and provide the opportunity to delve deeper into specific topics. During tours on specific topics such as formulation, medicinal cannabis, self-medication advice, or nutritional supplements, visitors can discover interesting booths and current trends together and engage in conversation with experts and colleagues. The workshops offer the opportunity to deepen knowledge together in smaller groups, for example, in the daily formulation workshop "You can count on us" hosted by DAC/NRF.
The German Pharmacists' Day (DAT) will take place parallel to Expopharm, setting the political course for the future. Health Minister Nina Warken will participate in the DAT opening event on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Her speech will also be broadcast live on the Pharma World stage and subsequently analyzed and discussed.
