ADKA: Anniversary Congress in Berlin concluded
Under the motto "Tradition and Innovation – Hospital Pharmacy at the Cutting Edge," more than 1,250 participants gathered in Berlin from May 8 to 10 for the 50th ADKA Annual Congress. After the congress is before the congress: The 51st ADKA Annual Congress will take place from June 11 to 13, 2026, in Düsseldorf.

For more than five decades, hospital pharmacies have continuously evolved. In doing so, they have not only responded to new scientific findings but have also provided impetus for pharmaceutical and medical progress. The congress therefore continues the tradition of promoting exchange between science and practice, addressing current developments, and jointly developing solutions to the challenges facing the profession.

This year's congress not only provided an opportunity to take stock of the past decades, but also to look ahead to actively shape the future of hospital pharmacy. The focus was particularly on medication therapy safety (MTSR) in hospitals and the central role of hospital pharmacists in patient care.

"The challenges in healthcare are significant, but at our conference we demonstrated that we not only have answers, but also the will and knowledge to actively contribute to solutions." This is how newly elected ADKA President Dr. Jochen Schnurrer reflected on the conference. "Digitalization is transforming pharmaceutical care – hospital pharmacists are not spectators, but drivers."

ADKA Managing Director Christopher Jürgens expressed his delight at the large number of participants. "The response, especially from young colleagues, was particularly noticeable this year. This shows us that hospital pharmacy is attractive, future-proof, and offers diverse development opportunities."

This year, Berlin is sending a signal not only to the professional world, but also to politicians. "We have concepts, we have expertise – now we need the political will to involve us more closely."

ADKA and Avoxa have been working successfully together for many years in the conception and implementation of conferences and events. "We are continuing to deepen our excellent collaboration – starting with the current issue, the Pharmazeutische Zeitung will regularly report on the topic of hospital pharmacy in a newly created section, " says Metin Ergül, Managing Director of Avoxa – Media Group of German Pharmacists.
